Working to Wash Away the Debts

It is always fun to fundraise when you are with your team. Are team did a fundraiser to help us with funds for cheerleading. Many of us on the team have to pay money for are cheer gear used throughout the season; so this was a good way to help with the cost. Are fundraiser was a car wash. We had such a fun time working at the car wash. Many people came out to supposrt us. There was no charge for getting your car washed but we did offer people to support us through donations. We ended up making alot of money through donations. People rinsed scrubbed dryed and held up signs this all was apart of working at the car wash. It was a beautiful day also the sun was shining and and are team was bonding. It was a successful day of fun and work.

The New Stunt!

After gaining a whole new squad after the christmas break it was exciting to put up new stunts! Our first new set of stunts was for our new halftime we were going to perform at a game. The new stunts were very difficult to perform. They requried alot of strentgh and endurance. Together as a squad we worked hard and we got all the new stunts down and we performed them to the best of our ability. They took us a while to learn and they did not go up up perfect at first and after we practiced for a while they eventually went up smooth and easy. This gave us confidence to perform during half time. Our half time came out great and all of the stunts hit. The crowd was amazed and they also enjoyed all of our new stunts along with our new squad.

A Whole New Squad

Before Christmas break at school are coach wanted to add new girls to the squad for the next semester. I was really excited that we were going to be getting new girls but i was also a little nervous because we were going to have a new squad. After christmas we had practice and we also had a game the following day with the new squad. This was very exciting but i was also a little un easy about the situtation because the new girls did not know all of the cheers and chants that we did at games. We were going to have to teach them everything. Are first practice after break turned out great the new girls caught on quickly and I felt as though even with the new girls we still performed great as a team. We were nice to the new girls and we were also very welcome and they were very nice and they listened to instruction well! We were all very excited and pleased with are new squad. The first game after break turned out very well we all did a great job and the crowd was very excited to see a whole new squad!

Stunt Clinic

Are next big endeavor as cheerleaders was are stunt clinic. Stunt Clinic was when a whole group of younger girls came to eastern to learn cheers and stunts. These young girls learned the cheers and stunts and then performed them at half during the basketball game that day. There was a ton of young girls they were very cute and fun but they were also alot to handle. They had alot of energy but they were still alot of fun to work with. When the girls arrived to eastern we taught them cheers, stunts, and a whole half time routine the girls really enjoyed it! They got to know us cheerleaders and we also got to know and learn alot about them. Some of the girls were already cheerleaders who cheered for there schools and others were girls just interested in cheering. This was a great opportunity for us to teach and young girls cheerleading! We all enjoyed it and the young girls enjoyed it also. We made alot of new friends that day and the girls half time turned out great and the crowd loved it!

The First Two Games

After our first week of practice i was confident that our first game was going to be great! I was right our first game was awesome. Our hard work in practice paid off we did a great job. I was very nervous because it was my first time cheering in college. I was scared that i was going to forget the cheers or forget my spot when we did cheers for 30 second time outs and full time outs. I was wrong though i remembered everything and so did everyone else we did great! The second game was even better we were more on point and together than the first game and we had a half time performane I was very excited! Our half time looked great, we were all a little nervous but we worked hard and it turned out great! We cheered the boys on and gave them the support they needed to win there first two home games! Here is a video of some of the old eastern cheerleaders at a competition. Some of the cheerleaders in this video still cheer with us today!

The First Week of Practice

So I finally made the team and it felt great. The tryout process was hard and nerveracking but it all paid off in the end. Now it was time for the first week of practices. The practices were hard and i was trying things that i had never done before. The different things the coaches gave us to do were new and challenging. I enjoyed it alot because it made me work even harder. The coaches gaves us tons of new stunts to try that i had never done before. After the first week of practices my whole body was sore. I could barely walk up the stairs. After the first week I really felt like are team was starting to come together and gell as a team. The returning girls to the squad were really nice and welcomed all of us new girls to the squad.I was really starting to feel apart of the team. Second Day of Tryouts

The second day of tryouts was a little bit more nerve racking because it was the day we actually tried out for the team. The coaches set us up in groups of three that we would try out in. Before we actually tried out we practiced what we learned the first day of tryouts. I felt good about trying out because i knew the moves and I was confident and ready. I was still very nervous though because previous times when i tried out for squads in high school, i got nervous during tryouts and i messed up. I knew that I couldnt let that happen this time around if I wanted to make the team. Finally it was time for me to tryout; I did a great job and the best thing about it was I didnt mess up. After trying out we all had to wait in the gym for the coaches to give us our results. The coaches began calling girls in to tell them their results some made the team and some didnt. I was one of the last to be called in to get my results. They told me I made it I was so excited it was a great experience I will always remember. Now I was ready for the first day of practice!

First Day of Tryouts

The first day of tryouts were tough. We learned many new dances and cheers that we would have to perform the next day of tryouts. The captains were nice and the coaches were very helpful when teaching us. I was very nervous and unsure if i was going to make the team simply because it was college level. Although i was nervous i had one of my best friends Julie who I cheered with in high school to help me along the way. We practiced together until we got all the moves down.Even though the first day of tryouts were nerve racking, it still taught me a lot about myself and overcoming my fears to do something I am passionate about.
